Bags around the eyes are due to puffiness or swelling underneath the eyes. This is a common finding in many people. As we age, the tissues under the eyes weaken and lose their elasticity. The fat that is held taut then starts to migrate and forms a pouch underneath the eyes. In some cases, the face may appear swollen. In some cases, the skin around the eyes may darken.
Baggy eyes usually do not reflect a medical disorder, the chief problem is cosmetic.
